We finally have some news to report! Both engines, the one that blew at the Reno Air Races in 2009 and the one we were having built, are loaded into a Penske truck and headed 1700 miles North to Idaho where they will find a new home at Anderson Aeromotive.

 

The Spirit of Texas is kinda of a sad sight right now, but at least things are finally headed in the right direction and hopefully we can have her back in the air soon!

Hello!  Sorry there have been no new entries, but that's because there have been no new developments.  The Sea Fury is still sitting in Breckenridge waiting for a new engine.  We're hoping to get one soon and have the Spirit of Texas running and back in the air.  And you can rest assured that once she is, you will hear about it here.

After sitting in Reno for 3 weeks post Air Races, the Spirit of Texas is finally back in Breckenridge!

It was a rough Reno for us this year.  Stewart qualified at 430.411 this year, but he knew something wasn't right.  He was missing 10 mph, yet everything seemed to be fine.  On Wednesday, he decided to go back out and try to find the missing 10 mph.  During qualification he felt some vibration then heard a loud pop.  Stewart immediately pulled the power back, maydayed, and landed.  Upon inspection, they found that the piston on the number 13 cylinder was burned.  Spirit of Texas was out for Reno 2009.

She is back in Breckenridge after taking a road trip home.  We hope to have her back in the air by early 2010.  Below is a picture of the arrival of the Spirit of Texas in Breckenridge, TX.
